ICT and the Arts

Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

St Clair School is widely recognised for its innovative use of information and communication technology (ICT). It has a fully integrated Apple Mac-based network providing quality computer access in all classes and work spaces. The school uses its iSuite for intensive teaching and student directed learning while multiple class based computers allow on-going, timetabled access for all pupils.

The school makes use of airport technology to allow children to access the network via pods of laptop Macbooks.

The school regularly hosts visits by visiting teachers eager to find out more about our use of ICT to support learning.

Significant ICT achievements include being selected as one of 5 finalists for a national movie making competition. Check out a condensed version of the entry (1178k) created by some of our children. Another, more recently created movie is also available for those with high-speed data access.

The Arts

St Clair School is proud of its well developed arts programme. This programme includes opportunities for children to be involved in:

  • weekly specialist music instruction for all classes
  • a high quality ensemble with professional tuition
  • a specialist choir
  • dance events and festivals
  • a comprehensive and successful Kapa Haka programme currently involving almost 150 children.
