Homework ~ Guidance and Advice
Homework is designed to be a positive experience for our students. Typically tasks are designed to be completed independently and aim to;
- reinforce current learning
- maintain existing knowledge
- extend student thinking or skills.
Homework should not dominate a child's after-school activities. Research clearly indicates that after a day at school, children need plenty of time to relax, socialise and develop other skills and abilities including those related to sport, the arts and culture. The development of a confident, well-rounded child should be every parent's aim.
Beneficial activities which build children's independence and character include;
- interacting positively with friends and family
- learning to play fairly, take turns and be tolerant of others
- undertaking age-appropriate household chores and activities.
The importance of outdoor play should not be overlooked. Our children need plenty of physical activity if they are to grow into strong, healthy adults.
