Ngaru - Yrs 3 & 4
Brigid uses her special skills to enhance the learning of her students. She is an experienced teacher with very well structured literacy and mathematics programmes and rich learning experiences across the rest of the curriculum. Brigid has real strengths in Te Ao Māori and leads this by example in her classroom.
Miss Abby is a newly registered teacher, who started her teaching career with us in 2022. Miss Abby is an energetic and enthusiastic person with a strong sense of team. Building professional relationships with tamariki, colleagues, whānau and the wider community is important to her.
Scotty joined the Ngaru team in 2021, having worked in the Takutai-iti and Takutai-nui teams in 2019-2020. Scotty retrained as a primary teacher after previously teaching in the secondary sector. He brings strengths in digital technology, social sciences and learning through play, as well as a 'can do' attitude and a strong ability to think outside the square.
Sally has joined the Ngaru team in 2022, having been our PE specialist teacher for many years. Sally's calm, patient manner with children brings out the best in their learning, and she is excited to return full time to the classroom, after being in the Takutai-iti team in term 4 in 2021.
Ms Holland joined us in 2018, and taught in both Takutai and Ngaru teams over this time. Ms Holland comes to us after nine years teaching in Auckland. Ms Holland is a passionate educator who has strengths in her relationship building with children and families, as well as physical education. Stef's positive attitude is much valued at our school.
Room 14 classroom release teacher
Mrs Brown has joined the Ngaru team for the remainder of 2022. Since leaving St Clair School and full time teaching to have children of her own in 2016 she has been a specialist arts teacher and classroom release teacher around Dunedin. Mrs Brown is passionate about teaching and learning. She gets much enjoyment out of supporting, assisting and guiding individuals to reach their full potential. Mrs Brown is very excited to return.
Room 18 classroom release teacher
Gina provides the leadership release in Ngaru, and teaches in room 18 every second Friday. Gina has been a valued reliever across all levels of our kura over the past year, and has built positive connections with children across the school because of this work. Her calm, caring, patient disposition is much appreciated by all at school.
Alison Caldwell works with all classes once a week providing a specialised music programme. She is an enthusiastic and capable teacher, and is a highly skilled music specialist. She has an enthusiasm for her work which sees children achieving high standards within a varied and stimulating music programme. Ali also coordinates our school marimba, choir, rock band and guitar groups.
Alison is also assisting with our communication regarding Covid-19
P.E Specialist Teacher
Stacey Hemi works with all classes once a week providing a specialised PE programme. Stacey is a very experienced teacher, with a passion for PE and sports. She runs a skills based PE programme with each class, in a 45 minute lesson each week.
