Leadership and Administration

Jen Rodgers joined the team as tumuaki/principal in 2016.  Prior to this, Whaea Jen was the tumuaki/principal of Cheviot Area School for five years, and has been involved in education since the early 1990s, from primary through to tertiary.  Whaea Jen is on the executive of the Otago Primary Principals Association, and has served on the NZPF executive.

Whaea Jen welcomes open communication with whanau and families to ensure that we are working together in partnership to support our learners.

Luke Herden is our deputy principal.  He has taught in a number of schools in Dunedin, and joined us in 2022.  Luke has a strong interest in digital technology, sport and  the importance of relational leadership. Mr Herden leads St Clair School in the area of special education and is our school LENCO.

Deborah MacLeod provides a cheerful welcome for parents and is a valuable source of information about the school.

As Executive Officer, Deborah undertakes work associated with school finances and oversees the operation of the school's administration. Deborah also coordinates Jen's appointments and is a useful first-point-of-contact for many school matters.  Deborah is also the Board of Trustees' secretary.

Jody Quedley is our school's Learning Support Coordinator (LSC), working for the Beachside Cluster of four schools, and specifically in St Clair School.  Jody brings a wealth of experience in working with children with diverse learning needs.  She also works closely with family and whanau, and interacts with the outside agencies to coordinate support for the kaiako/teachers, ākonga/learners and their whānau/families.

Alison Caldwell works with all classes once a week providing a specialised music programme.  She is an enthusiastic and capable teacher, and is a highly skilled music specialist.  She has an enthusiasm for her work which sees children achieving high standards within a varied and stimulating music programme.  Ali also coordinates our school marimba, choir, rock band and guitar groups.

Vicky Caswell has two main roles in the school: clerical support with key responsibility for pupil records, and school librarian with responsibility for overall management of the library collection. If a job needs doing, this is the lady to see - thorough, efficient and effective.  Mrs Caswell is known for her fabulous sense of humour!

Tracey Hartmann provides administration support in the office during lunch breaks and afternoons.

Tracey always has a smile at the ready, and does all the things we need to keep the school ticking along.
